Typical work assignments include:


Providing legal advice concerning the statutory and regulatory basis for pay and leave; all aspects of the labor management relations program; represent the agency in arbitrations and hearings in administrative appeals before the EEOC, MSPB, and FLRA.

This position is located at CBP's Hiring Center.

Therefore, attorneys will be providing advice to and represent the Hiring Center's managers; they will also regularly interact and work with the attorneys located in the Ethics, Labor and Employment Section located in CBP's Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Providing advice on the Agency's hiring initiatives, including recruitment incentives, as well as, relocation and retention benefits, as well as, advice about the various pay statutes and their impact on compensation, including overtime allowances, and position description classifications;
Providing assistance to the Department of Justice attorneys representing the agency in employment and labor law actions and provides legal review and advice about employee conduct standards, investigations of misconduct, proposed disciplinary actions, and investigations of equal employment discrimination complaints;
Reviewing and/or drafting proposed regulations and policy issuances concerning personnel, employment, and labor relations matters; and

Providing advice and training in the legal aspects of personnel, employment and labor laws with emphasis on ethics, post-employment conflicts of interest, third party administrative proceedings, equal employment opportunity law, and Federal sector labor management relations law.
