The Registered Nurse RN Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing a centralized bed management system aimed at enhancing patient admissions and transfers, thereby optimizing occupancy and minimizing service delays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communication with clinical personnel to assess the status of pending discharges, transfers, and bed availability, ensuring appropriate bed assignments.
  • Evaluate all admissions and transfers for clinical appropriateness and medical necessity.
  • Take necessary actions when criteria are unmet or resources are insufficient.
  • Guide and support admissions coordinators to promote efficient patient access and flow.
  • Analyze bed management data, identify challenges and potential solutions, and prepare reports for executive review.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Registered Nurse credential from the Illinois Board of Nursing required prior to hire or transfer.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited nursing school or professional licensure at the time of hire.
