Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist will serve as a key member of the CEMEX USA team, responsible for ensuring the attraction, development, and retention of top talent. This role will focus on providing HR expertise to operations personnel, ensuring compliance with CEMEX HR policies and procedures, as well as collective bargaining agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and track staffing needs, proactively filling them through internal and external hiring, succession planning, and retention practices.
  • Collaborate with operations management to maintain positive employee and labor relations, including local grievance processes.
  • Manage the hiring process, including job descriptions, requisitions, recruiting, candidate selection, and new hire orientations.
  • Verify candidate backgrounds, education, and references before making hiring decisions.
  • Conduct exit interviews and monitor activities related to departing employees.
  • Ensure compliance with company rules and government regulations.
  • Investigate employee complaints and grievances, as well as policy and rule violations.
  • Coordinate employee training and development, engagement, and retention activities.
  • Assist management in employee discipline, improvement plans, and termination hearings.
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations, wearing proper safety equipment on plant grounds.
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of Human Resources experience.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, including presentations to small and large groups.
  • Proficient with a personal computer, including word, excel, and power-point; SAP HR, Success Factors, and/or Taleo a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of Human Resources Generalist functions.
  • Knowledge of Labor Relations fundamentals preferred.
  • Strategic decision-making and tactical HR experience.
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Team player, capable of collaborating across regions and functions.
  • Ethical and high compliance to institutional policies and standards.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues at once.
  • Capable of working in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, including noise exposure, temperature fluctuations, and weather elements.
  • Ability to physically perform the essential job functions.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires walking and sitting to a significant degree.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors.
  • Able to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Able to work with standard office/computer equipment.
  • Capable of working in an open office environment.
  • Capable of working in very close quarters.
