The Lead Brand Copywriter at Matthews International is responsible for creating captivating and original narratives that resonate with diverse brands, audiences, and platforms. Reporting directly to the Director of Storytelling, this role involves close collaboration with various teams to execute a range of initiatives, from digital campaigns to immersive marketing experiences. You will be expected to provide creative directors with innovative concepts and options that inspire and shape large-scale campaigns and client deliverables. Additionally, you may lead intermediate-level copy projects, developing strategic approaches for client briefs across multiple applications. The ideal candidate will possess agency or in-house brand marketing experience, a meticulous attention to detail, and a proven ability to produce compelling copy that aligns with different brand voices under tight deadlines.

IMPORTANT NOTES

This position is part of our flexible workforce. As a flexible employee, you will work on a project basis as needed, with the option to work remotely. However, you may be invited to participate in in-person collaborative sessions when necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of client copywriting projects, adhering to established budgets and objectives.
  • Adapt writing styles to suit various brands and audiences, conducting research as needed to gain insights into brand identity and target demographics.
  • Consistently meet quality standards and deadlines for all assigned projects, while recommending improvements in content and processes to management.
  • Actively participate in collaborative meetings with internal teams to enhance ideas and collectively address client needs.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, prioritization, interpersonal, problem-solving, time management, and planning skills.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in Communications or Journalism, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Occasional travel may be required, whether locally, nationally, or internationally.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and internet applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including analysis and interpretation.
  • Solid understanding of mathematical concepts and their application.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with peers and clients.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and see.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
