Job Summary

The Cable Systems Specialist will be responsible for identifying and resolving technical issues within the cable infrastructure, ensuring optimal signal quality and compliance with industry standards and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform thorough troubleshooting of cable television services to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment, including signal level meters, time domain reflection meters, and OTDRs, to identify and repair faults in feeder cables, fiber, and nodes.
  • Interface with customers to provide technical information and support, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Install and service digital and high-definition cable systems, including DTV, HDMI, and component video connections.
  • Perform cable modem installations and service calls, working with various operating systems, including Windows XP, 98, and NT.
  • Repair signal leakage and decimation, and splice all types of cable as required.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of RF design and system prints.
  • Complete all daily service installation activity, including work orders, sales orders, vehicle reports, and other required paperwork.
  • Operate equipment safely, including extension ladders and bucket trucks, and adhere to safety weight limits in inclement weather.
  • Perform standby system service as scheduled by the technical services group.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including EEO and safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED - required
  • Minimum two (2) years prior cable technical experience.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Windows software.
  • General knowledge of residential cable TV, Internet, and Phone services - Required
  • Formal electronics training, NCTI, SCTE Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift minimum of 75 lbs.
  • Customer relation skills.
  • Team oriented
  • Must be team oriented, self-motivated and well organized.
Working Conditions
  • The Cable Systems Specialist is a full-time, non-exempt position.
  • The regular workweek is typically 40 hours per week, with additional hours as needed.
  • Overtime, including holidays, weekends, and nights as required by the Customer Facing Supervisor or other designated Company personnel.
  • The majority of the work being completed off of company premises and outside in all weather conditions.
  • All uniforms, tools and personal equipment will be provided by the company.
  • The Cable Systems Specialist is required to drive on the job as needed and is subject to regular MVR checks.
  • The Company is a drug-free workplace.
