About the Mechanical Engineering Organization:
The Mechanical Engineering (ME) Organization is at the forefront of designing, developing, and producing advanced radar, sonar, torpedo, and combat system technologies. Utilizing cutting-edge tools and processes, the ME Team embodies Raytheon's CORE principles, covering a wide array of technical disciplines, including engineering, manufacturing, and documentation.

Department Focus:
The Air Defense Ground Equipment (ADGE) Department specializes in the mechanical design and integration of platform systems, including shelter systems and hardware interconnections. Our team comprises experts in hardware design and production support, dedicated to delivering exceptional results.

Role Summary:
We are seeking a full-time Principal Mechanical Engineer - Team Lead to oversee the engineering staff within the LTAMDS Radar Infrastructure mechanical design team. This leadership role entails managing design, equipment integration, and vendor support for air defense systems. The Section Leader will guide multi-disciplinary engineering teams, providing innovative mechanical solutions throughout all program phases, including proposal development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of 15-25 skilled mechanical engineers.
  • Act as the primary liaison for staffing assignments and resource allocation.
  • Ensure technical performance and provide guidance across the product lifecycle.
  • Facilitate employee development through mentoring and training initiatives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support recruitment efforts.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency within the ME organization.
  • Oversee cross-functional engineering teams through all development phases.
  • Execute complex mechanical design and documentation for defense systems.
  • Support product integration with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Collaborate with various engineering and non-engineering disciplines to resolve technical challenges.
  • Meet established schedule, financial, and technical objectives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead engineers.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with 8 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in mechanical design for military applications.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Familiarity with engineering budget management and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Active U.S. government issued secret security clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience leading engineering teams with budget and schedule responsibilities.
  • Mechanical design experience from concept through production support.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in an Integrated Product Team environment.
  • Knowledge of LTAMDS air defense systems and missile design.
