The Air Defense Ground Equipment Department specializes in the mechanical design and integration of essential systems, including hardware assembly and facility development. Our department consists of skilled professionals with a wealth of experience in hardware design and production support.
We are seeking a full-time Principal Mechanical Engineer - Team Lead to guide our mechanical design team focused on LTAMDS Radar Infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of 15-25 mechanical engineers, providing direction and support.
- Act as the primary contact for program-related staffing and resource management.
- Ensure technical excellence by overseeing project performance and providing guidance throughout the product lifecycle.
- Facilitate employee development through mentoring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Drive initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and operational efficiency within the engineering team.
- Manage cross-functional teams through all stages of development, from initial proposals to production.
- Conduct complex mechanical design and documentation for defense systems, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to address integration challenges and meet production goals.
- Maintain accountability for project schedules, budgets, and technical objectives.
- Provide mentorship to both senior and junior engineers.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with at least 8 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in mechanical design.
- Proficient in mechanical design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis.
- Experience in managing engineering budgets and performance metrics.
- Possession of an active U.S. government security clearance is mandatory.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in leading engineering teams with budget and schedule oversight.
- Expertise in mechanical design from concept through production.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment with diverse engineering disciplines.
- Knowledge of LTAMDS air defense systems and related technologies.
