Position Overview:
At Raytheon Technologies, we are committed to safeguarding our nation and allies through innovative engineering solutions. Our Mechanical Engineering (ME) Organization is at the forefront of designing and producing advanced radar, sonar, and combat systems.
Role Responsibilities:
The Section Leader will oversee a team of skilled mechanical engineers dedicated to the mechanical design of air defense systems, specifically focusing on the LTAMDS Radar Infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership and direct management for a team of 15-25 engineers.
- Acting as the primary liaison for program teams regarding staffing, resource allocation, and project forecasting.
- Ensuring technical excellence in individual and team contributions throughout the product lifecycle.
- Facilitating the development of Technical Data Packages and conducting peer reviews.
- Fostering employee growth through mentoring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Leading initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and operational efficiency within the ME organization.
Additionally, the Section Leader will manage cross-functional engineering teams through all stages of development, from initial proposal to production readiness. This includes:
- Executing complex mechanical designs and documentation for defense systems.
- Collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to ensure seamless product integration.
- Meeting established schedule, financial, and technical objectives.
- Guiding junior engineers and promoting a culture of technical excellence.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Proven expertise in mechanical design, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and tolerance analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to manage engineering budgets and proposals.
- A valid U.S. government issued secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will also have:
- A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience leading engineering teams with accountability for cost and schedule.
- Familiarity with LTAMDS air defense systems and related technologies.
