Principal Systems Engineer

About the Role

Raytheon is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team in the development and integration of advanced radar systems. As a key member of our Systems Engineering Directorate, you will be responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts of operations for radar systems, including signal processing and waveform design, electronic protection methods, phased array and digital beamforming technology, radar search, track and discrimination design, target and threat modeling, integration and test of large radar systems, and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).

  • Collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to develop and implement solutions, including radar processing algorithm development, radar software requirements development, statistical and numerical analysis of radar performance data, and analysis tool development in support of problem identification and resolution.

  • Present findings and solutions to Leadership and/or Customers, including technical writing and oral presentations.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of radar systems, including antenna, receiver/exciter, waveforms, digital beamforming, multi-sensor track management and data fusion, adaptive signal processing, clutter mitigation techniques, electronic attack and electronic protect, sensor resource management and mission planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 5 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active and in-scope Secret US security clearance.

  • Experience with design, development, and analysis of radar system and software architectures.

  • Experience with signal processing techniques in complex propagation environments.

  • Design experience in the following radar system areas; antenna, receiver/exciter, waveforms, digital beamforming, multi-sensor track management and data fusion, adaptive signal processing, clutter mitigation techniques, electronic attack and electronic protect, sensor resource management and mission planning.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Requirements development experience, including use of DOORS.

  • Experience with MATLAB/Python/C++.

  • Experience with technical writing and oral presentations.

  • Masters/PhD in a STEM field.

  • Systems Engineering experience on DoD systems.
