About the Role:

Barker & Sons is in search of a collaborative, results-oriented leader ready to mentor and develop a team of exceptional field technicians. As part of our Operations Team, the Service Manager will oversee the sales, scheduling, and execution of all plumbing services, providing leadership, management, and accountability to our technicians while ensuring the consistent application of our best practices. This role is crucial in driving effective and profitable daily operations through hands-on leadership, process improvement, sales training, and utilizing data and metrics to identify issues, create solutions, and enhance performance. Success depends on effectively managing a diverse team that may include Plumbing Service & Repair, Camera Sales, and Installation Technicians.

Compensation:

Competitive, performance-based salary ranging from $90,000 to $130,000, plus unlimited bonuses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and be accountable for the performance and outcomes of the assigned technician team.
  • Train and coach technicians on Barker & Sons' service model, sewer sales, installation processes, and the use of technology and established workflows to ensure consistent support.
  • Drive team performance to meet productivity and conversion targets; monitor and assess operations and sales data to provide targeted coaching and feedback.
  • Ensure technicians deliver consistent 5-star customer experiences in alignment with Barker & Sons' proven service process.
  • Conduct regular ride-along training sessions to build technician confidence, enhance performance, and promote professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with payment processing requirements for job initiation, continuation, and closure.
  • Participate in daily meetings to review data and communicate objectives.
  • Collaborate with Dispatch to ensure work assignments align with field performance, meet customer needs, and adhere to company staffing standards.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining monthly staffing schedules to support regular operations and contingency situations.
  • Act as a liaison between customers, technicians, and staff to ensure timely and appropriate resolution of service issues.
  • Set the standard for professional appearance and demeanor for our technicians, ensuring they are welcomed into customers' homes.
  • Promote the core values of Barker & Sons, fostering accountability and pride among technicians in the maintenance and readiness of their trucks, tools, parts, and inventory.
  • Actively recruit and provide input on the screening, selection, and management of technicians in alignment with core values and objectives.
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment; prioritize personnel safety in all situations.
  • Continuously seek and incorporate performance feedback and coaching from site leadership and Nexstar coaches.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Proven leadership experience, skilled in managing direct reports to achieve sales goals and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Demonstrated success in service management, preferably in home services, automotive, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of small business operations, job-level profit & loss, and cash flow; ability to utilize financial metrics to accurately assess, diagnose, and coach technician performance.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who accomplishes tasks effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adept at developing and enhancing processes, systems, and sales performance.
  • Technologically proficient, able to quickly learn and implement new software and systems.
  • Able to work both in the office and in the field with technicians daily.
  • Willingness to work weekends.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check for Home Services.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in service management.
  • 2-3 years in a Plumbing/Home Services company.
  • Completion of a home services management and/or sales training program.
  • Experience with Service Titan or similar home services support software.
  • Experience in managing and/or leading safety programs.

Desired:

  • Experience within a Nexstar Network Home Services Company.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing products and service invoicing.
  • Strong technical knowledge of plumbing products and solutions.
