About the Role:

Barker & Sons is in search of a collaborative, results-driven leader who is eager to mentor and develop a team of exceptional field technicians. The Service Manager plays a crucial role within our Operations Team, responsible for coordinating the sales, scheduling, and execution of all plumbing services through effective leadership, management, and accountability of our technicians, while consistently applying our best practice-driven processes. This position enhances efficient and profitable daily operations through direct leadership, process enhancement, sales coaching, and utilizing key metrics to identify challenges, devise solutions, and boost performance. A key aspect of success in this role is the ability to manage a diverse team that may include Plumbing Service & Repair, Camera Sales, and Installation Technicians.

Compensation:

Competitive, performance-based salary ranging from $90,000 to $130,000, in addition to uncapped bonuses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and be accountable for the performance and outcomes of the assigned technician team.
  • Educate, train, and coach technicians on the Barker & Sons service model, sewer sales, installation processes, and the use of technology and established workflows to ensure consistent support.
  • Drive team performance to achieve productivity and conversion targets; assess operations and sales data to provide focused coaching and feedback.
  • Ensure technicians deliver consistent 5-star customer experiences in accordance with the Barker & Sons home services proven process.
  • Conduct regular ride-along training sessions to build technician confidence, enhance performance, and promote professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with payment processing protocols for job initiation, continuation, and closure.
  • Participate in daily meetings to review data and communicate objectives.
  • Collaborate with Dispatch to ensure work assignments align with field performance, meet customer needs, and adhere to company staffing standards.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining monthly staffing schedules to support regular operations and contingency situations.
  • Act as a liaison between customers, technicians, and staff to ensure timely and appropriate resolution of service issues.
  • Set a standard of professional appearance and demeanor for our technicians, ensuring they are welcomed into customers' homes.
  • Promote the core values of Barker & Sons, fostering accountability and pride among technicians regarding the upkeep and readiness of their trucks, tools, parts, and inventory.
  • Actively participate in recruiting and provide input on the screening, selection, and management of technicians in alignment with core values and objectives.
  • Create and maintain a safe working environment; prioritize personnel safety in all situations.
  • Continuously seek and incorporate performance feedback and coaching through site leadership and Nexstar coaches.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Proven leadership experience, adept at managing direct reports to achieve sales goals and deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Demonstrated success in service management, preferably in home services, automotive, or a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of small business operations, job-level profit & loss, and cash flow; ability to leverage financial metrics to accurately assess, diagnose, and coach technician performance.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated individual who accomplishes tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skilled in creating and refining processes, systems, and sales performance.
  • Technologically proficient, with the ability to quickly learn and implement new software and systems.
  • Able to work in a flexible environment, including both office and field settings.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Capable of passing a background check for Home Services.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in service management.
  • 2-3 years of experience within a Plumbing/Home Services company.
  • Completion of a home services management and/or sales training program.
  • Experience with Service Titan or similar home services support software.
  • Experience in managing and/or leading safety programs.

Desired:

  • Experience within a Nexstar Network Home Services Company.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing products and service invoicing.
  • Strong technical knowledge of plumbing products and solutions.
