Lead Injection Molding Engineer

The Injection Molding Operations Engineer is a critical role that involves the planning, direction, and coordination of manufacturing equipment and processes to ensure the production of high-quality injection molded products.
This position entails overseeing the molding activities for new program launches, establishing and refining manufacturing processes, and providing support in troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives.
Main Responsibilities- Ensure the operational readiness of injection molding machines and their associated processes.
- Set up molding tools and develop setup parameters.
- Verify compliance with quality specifications and enhance ongoing processes on machinery.
- Demonstrate proficiency in starting, operating, and shutting down molding process-related equipment, with the ability to work autonomously on new processes.
- Lead the implementation of innovative injection molding processes and equipment.
- Oversee troubleshooting efforts for injection molding machines and their support systems.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on molding machines and related peripherals independently.
- Collaborate with equipment and material vendors to address machine and equipment challenges.
- Monitor and document issues with injection molds, providing recommendations for refurbishment based on production metrics such as cycles, process capability, and tooling history.
- Develop and execute process enhancements and technological advancements.
- Identify and implement initiatives for cost optimization and reduction.
- Train personnel on molding processes and supply comprehensive work instructions and manuals.
- Maintain high standards of quality through active engagement with employees to ensure precision and accuracy at every stage of the production process.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to process technicians, operators, and other molding staff.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of machines and the overall production environment.
- Guarantee that all business operations comply with local laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to laws and regulations concerning environmental protection, fire safety, and occupational health.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an injection molding manufacturing setting.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
Additional Skills: Experience with thermoplastics processing, robotics, automation, and hot runner systems. A robust technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality assurance is essential. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision and exhibiting a high degree of self-motivation. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to thrive in an environment prone to interruptions. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is necessary, as well as a strong team-oriented and leadership mentality. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality are paramount.
Physical Requirements: The role necessitates the ability to see, hear, talk, and use hands and fingers for operating computer hardware and tools for basic assembly, packaging, and logistics. The employee must be capable of lifting up to 55 lbs regularly for packing, shipping, and inventory management. Frequent to constant standing and walking is expected throughout the workday, and steel-toe shoes are mandatory. If exposed to loud noise or eye hazards, appropriate protective equipment will be provided.
