The Injection Molding Process Engineer plays a pivotal role in overseeing and optimizing manufacturing equipment and processes to ensure the production of high-quality injection molded products.
This position is integral in coordinating molding efforts during new program launches, refining manufacturing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Main Responsibilities- Ensure operational readiness of injection molding machines and their supporting processes.
- Set up molding tools and establish setup parameters.
- Guarantee compliance with quality specifications while optimizing ongoing machine processes.
- Demonstrate proficiency in starting up, operating, and shutting down molding process-related equipment independently.
- Lead the implementation of innovative injection molding processes and equipment.
- Facilitate troubleshooting activities for injection molding machines and their support systems.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on molding machines and peripherals autonomously.
- Collaborate with equipment and material vendors to address machine and equipment challenges.
- Monitor injection molds, providing recommendations for refurbishment based on production metrics.
- Develop and implement process enhancements and technological advancements.
- Identify and execute cost optimization and reduction strategies.
- Train staff on molding processes, providing comprehensive work instructions and manuals.
- Maintain high-quality standards through direct engagement with employees to ensure accuracy at every production stage.
- Offer technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians, operators, and other molding personnel.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of machines and the production environment.
- Adhere to local laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Comply with environmental protection, fire prevention, and occupational health and safety regulations.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an injection molding manufacturing setting.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
Additional Skills: Experience with thermoplastics, robotics, automation, and hot runner systems. A robust technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality assurance is essential. Candidates should be self-motivated, possess strong communication skills, and be able to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to see, hear, talk, and use hands for operating equipment and tools. Candidates must be able to lift up to 55 lbs regularly and stand or walk frequently throughout the workday. Personal protective equipment will be provided as necessary.
