Job Overview

The Senior Process Engineer for Injection Molding is a crucial role that actively engages in the planning, directing, and coordination of manufacturing equipment and processes to ensure the production of superior quality injection molded products.

This position entails overseeing the molding operations during new program launches, refining manufacturing processes, and contributing to problem-solving and ongoing process enhancements. Additionally, the role includes mentoring and training other personnel involved in injection molding.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure the operational readiness of injection molding machines and associated support processes.
  • Set up molding tools and establish setup parameters.
  • Guarantee adherence to quality specifications while optimizing ongoing machine processes.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in starting up, operating, and shutting down molding process-related equipment independently.
  • Lead the implementation of innovative injection molding processes and equipment.
  • Facilitate troubleshooting activities for injection molding machines and their support systems.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance on molding machines and peripherals autonomously.
  • Collaborate with equipment and material vendors to address machine and equipment challenges.

Monitor and document issues with injection molds, providing recommendations for refurbishment based on production metrics such as cycles, process capability, and tooling history.

Develop and execute process improvements and technological advancements.

Identify and implement initiatives aimed at cost optimization and reduction.

Train staff on molding processes, providing comprehensive work instructions and manuals.

Maintain high-quality standards through active engagement with employees to ensure precision and accuracy throughout the production process.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians, operators, and other molding staff.

Ensure cleanliness and organization of machines and the overall production environment.

Adhere to local laws and regulations while following company policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with environmental protection laws, fire prevention regulations, and occupational health and safety standards.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an injection molding manufacturing setting.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with thermoplastics processing, robotics, automation, and hot runner systems. A strong and diverse technical background in injection molding processing, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality is essential.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to thrive in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong team leadership mentality and quality orientation with meticulous attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

To perform the essential functions of this role, the employee must possess the ability to see, hear, talk, and use hands and fingers to operate computer hardware and tools for basic assembly, packaging, and logistics.

The employee must be capable of lifting up to 55 lbs regularly for tasks related to packing, shipping, and inventory management. Frequent to constant standing and walking is required throughout the workday, and steel-toe shoes are mandatory.

In situations involving exposure to loud noise and/or eye hazards, appropriate hearing and/or eye protection will be provided.
