Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for rail yard projects by analyzing project plans, specifications, and requirements.
  • Develop competitive bids that align with the company's financial goals while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather information and insights necessary for accurate estimating.
  • Conduct research on material costs, labor rates, and market trends to inform pricing strategies and stay competitive.
  • Evaluate project scopes and specifications to identify potential challenges or areas for cost savings.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, bid submissions, and related correspondence for reference and auditing purposes.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements and provide updates on estimates, ensuring alignment with their expectations.
  • Assess and revise estimates based on project changes or new information, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 1 year of estimating experience
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze complex project plans and specifications
  • Attention to detail to ensure precision in estimates and bids
  • Industry knowledge of construction methods, materials, and labor costs, particularly in rail yard projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and subcontractors
  • Problem-solving ability to identify challenges and propose practical solutions during the estimating process
  • Team player with a willingness to work collaboratively in a family-oriented environment
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple estimates and deadlines efficiently
  • Proficiency in estimating software to streamline the estimating process and maintain accuracy
