Role Overview:

The Project Coordination Specialist is a pivotal role that builds upon the foundational skills of a Project Engineer. This position is designed for individuals who are cultivating their construction expertise and are well-versed in various domains including Field Operations, Safety, Project Management, and Preconstruction. Successful candidates will exhibit a strong sense of urgency, organizational prowess, professionalism, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team or work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely updates as the project advances.
  • Prepare essential documents such as subcontracts, purchase orders, change order proposals, and monthly payment requests for review.
  • Manage the distribution and tracking of Requests for Information (RFIs) and other change documentation.
  • Conduct effective project meetings and prepare comprehensive meeting notes.
  • Review shop drawings and samples to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Oversee the project submittal approval process proactively.

Preconstruction Involvement:

  • Demonstrate active engagement in the preconstruction process and conceptual planning.
  • Contribute to budget development and strategic financial planning.

Financial Oversight:

  • Manage project buyouts and negotiate with subcontractors and for change orders.
  • Ensure accurate owner payments and maintain accounts receivable.
  • Provide precise cost projections and manage cash flow effectively.

Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Offer guidance, oversight, and constructive feedback to Project Engineers.
  • Address conflicts in a timely and professional manner.

Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and organizational skills, demonstrating their ability to be a valuable team player and mentor. A solid mathematical aptitude, along with proven analytical, problem-solving, and mediation skills, is essential.

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in project management, field engineering, or estimating within a construction environment.
