Position Overview
This is an exceptional opportunity for a leader in the affordable housing and community development sector within the Southeast region. Enterprise partners with affordable housing developers, community leaders, public agencies, and policymakers, particularly focusing on Metro Atlanta and South Florida. Our mission is to build and preserve affordable housing and community assets, creating vibrant and inclusive neighborhoods. We deploy capital, influence policy, and lead innovative programmatic interventions through training, technical assistance, convenings, resource guides, and targeted grants. Since 1987, we have invested over $8.2 billion in the Southeast, resulting in the creation and preservation of nearly 123,400 affordable homes, while delivering impactful technical assistance and capacity building to our partners.
Key Responsibilities
The Southeast Market Executive will lead the implementation of Enterprise's program solutions, innovations, capital, and policy initiatives to create sustainable and lasting impacts in the region. This leadership role involves:
- Conducting strategic assessments of local and state government needs, and providing solutions to support affordable housing strategies.
- Managing a high-performing team dedicated to delivering a range of programmatic, policy, and capital interventions.
- Developing and overseeing innovative programs and capital resources to address regional needs.
- Collaborating across Enterprise divisions to identify new opportunities for deploying expertise and resources.
Relationship Management
- Acting as the primary relationship manager for local and state government partners.
- Engaging with local and state elected officials to cultivate constructive relationships.
- Identifying collaboration opportunities with other Enterprise markets and initiatives.
- Proactively enhancing customer and partner relationships.
Fundraising and Communications
- Developing new philanthropic opportunities to meet market needs.
- Managing existing revenue sources from philanthropy and government contracts.
- Coordinating with national colleagues on resource development and funder relations.
- Setting and achieving annual fundraising goals for the Southeast market.
- Pursuing media and communication opportunities to enhance visibility.
Public Policy Advocacy
- Leading proactive policy engagement at local and state levels.
- Developing and advancing policy priorities with designated staff.
- Coordinating with Enterprise's national policy office and engaging with local congressional representatives.
Commitment to Racial Equity
- Fostering a culture aligned with diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
- Demonstrating personal commitment to anti-racism and addressing systemic racism in housing.
- Building programs and policies with input from the communities we serve.
Management and Leadership
- Coordinating activities of the Southeast Advisory Board.
- Managing the Funders Collective Pipeline Committee.
- Overseeing market revenue and expenses, including annual plans and budgets.
- Facilitating deployment of strategic initiatives and best practices.
- Supervising staff to cultivate talent and maximize impact.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A demonstrated commitment to racial equity and social justice.
- A minimum of fifteen years of experience in community development, public policy, or related fields.
- An undergraduate degree; a Master's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- A successful track record in affordable housing or community development.
- Familiarity with community development programs and funding resources.
- Knowledge of policy crafting and advocacy processes.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Experience engaging with philanthropic donors.
- Proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- The ability to travel as needed.
