Position Overview

Children's Theatre of Charlotte is dedicated to crafting remarkable theatrical experiences that inspire young minds to discover the beauty of their surroundings.

The role of Institutional Giving Manager is pivotal within our dynamic Development Team, tasked with advancing our mission to deliver outstanding theatre experiences on stage, in educational settings, and throughout the community.

Key Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE INCLUDES:

  • Being an integral part of our Development Team, responsible for achieving a target of $1.54 million in contributed revenue. Collaborate closely with the Director of Development to implement comprehensive funding strategies, focusing on crafting persuasive grant proposals and overseeing the entire grants process.
  • Lead institutional fundraising initiatives, establishing annual grant strategies, nurturing relationships, building compelling cases for support, and researching potential funding sources.
  • Act as a liaison for current and prospective institutional partners, fostering strong relationships.
  • Work with organizational leadership to align projects and programs with funding opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain engagement strategies with funding partners to enhance relationships and broaden support.
  • Align funder priorities with the Theatre's programs and funding needs.
  • Assist the Director of Development in executing the Theatre's comprehensive development plan.
  • Participate in relevant fundraising and donor engagement events.
  • Conduct all activities and communications in alignment with the Mission Statement and Core Values of Children's Theatre of Charlotte.
Grants and Financial Management

YOUR DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Soliciting grants and contributions from foundations, corporations, and government entities while cultivating meaningful relationships through stewardship.
  • Managing and expanding a fundraising portfolio by identifying, nurturing, soliciting, and stewarding viable funding sources from various levels of foundations and agencies.
  • Overseeing the complete cycle of grant activities, including initiation, preparation, submission, tracking, reporting, and overall project management.
  • Monitoring and evaluating grant opportunities at national, state, and local levels to identify potential funding sources.
  • Collaborating with the Business Manager and relevant staff to ensure proper stewardship and reporting of restricted funds.
  • Tracking and documenting essential donor data within our donor management system.

  • A proactive, enthusiastic, and goal-oriented approach, with the ability to manage multiple details under pressure.
  • A passion for building relationships and collaborating with staff, board members, and funding stakeholders.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and a self-starter mentality, capable of initiating projects and fostering consensus.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and donor/volunteer CRM systems, with a focus on leveraging technology for efficiency.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle various projects simultaneously.
  • A people-oriented mindset, capable of motivating others and nurturing authentic relationships.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • A commitment to leading with equity, cultural awareness, and sensitivity.
Education and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree or a combination of significant professional experience in event planning and relevant education.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range of $48,000 to $52,000, including comprehensive health and welfare benefits, retirement matching, and a generous paid time off policy. Employees enjoy complimentary show tickets and discounts on educational programs.
