Position: Housing Support Coordinator

The mission of our organization is to adapt and respond to the growing and complex needs of our community. We focus on three primary areas: preventing poverty, addressing basic needs during crises, and creating pathways out of poverty.

COMPENSATION: $22.80/hour

POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a proactive leader who is compassionate, detail-oriented, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive to join our team as a Housing Support Coordinator.

The Housing Support Coordinator will serve as a vital link, providing exceptional customer service to residents, external agency providers, and vendors. Under general supervision, this role ensures a clean, safe, and secure environment for residents by offering referral information on various topics. The Coordinator will assist in resolving and de-escalating emerging issues that residents may encounter while ensuring adherence to established rules and policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment for residents, visitors, volunteers, and staff.
  2. Lead the orientation and training of Housing Support Representatives.
  3. Collaborate with Program Management to enforce program rules and policies, ensuring proper documentation of observations and incidents.
  4. Assist in filling shift coverage gaps across various shifts and locations within the housing division.
  5. Utilize conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to manage crisis situations effectively.
  6. Work alongside Program/Property Management to model and coach conflict resolution skills to other Housing Support staff.
  7. Facilitate partnerships with community programs to promote our services and build strong networks.
  8. Support program development, management, and evaluation in collaboration with Program Management.
  9. Deliver professional front desk services, including:
    1. Managing incoming calls.
    2. Assisting residents with inquiries and ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
    3. Enforcing visiting policies and procedures.
    4. Providing quality service across various areas, including maintenance requests, complaints, resources, and referrals.
    5. Administering medications as per established guidelines.
    6. Conducting regular rounds to check exits, fire doors, and common areas, while monitoring resident activities for safety.
    7. Addressing issues in the best interest of residents and the organization by identifying opportunities to enhance the resident experience.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least one year of relevant experience working with low-income populations, including those facing homelessness or mental health challenges.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to engage with culturally diverse populations experiencing significant life challenges.
  • Strong commitment to resident satisfaction and integrity.
  • Proficient in de-escalation techniques within a shelter environment.
  • Capable of accurately entering data for reporting purposes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Regular; Full-Time; Hourly; Non-Exempt

CPR Certification: Required

Driving Requirement: Required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs without assistance.
  • Walking or standing for more than 2 hours per shift is not required.
  • Physical restraint of clients is not required.
