Legal Operations Specialist
Overview: We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Legal Operations Specialist to become an integral part of our vibrant legal department. In this role, you will be essential in assisting our Chief Legal Officer and legal professionals with a variety of corporate legal functions. This position provides a unique opportunity to enhance our organization's effectiveness by delivering vital legal support, performing research, drafting essential documents, and collaborating on key projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Legal Support: Collaborate with and offer extensive legal assistance to the Chief Legal Officer across all facets of corporate law.
- Litigation Assistance: Aid attorneys with litigation-related tasks, including the collection and organization of documents, drafting pleadings, and managing case files.
- Case Oversight: Liaise with legal counsel regarding case updates to refresh litigation logs and maintain precise litigation reserves data for other departments.
- Legal Research and Evaluation: Perform thorough research on statutes, legal publications, judicial rulings, and other legal references; compile summaries and evaluations for legal staff.
- Document Management: Create and oversee documents pertinent to corporate policies, agreements, resolutions, and various legal paperwork.
- Contract Drafting and Assessment: Draft and evaluate contracts such as non-disclosure agreements, vendor contracts, and employment contracts; assist in the negotiation of agreements.
- Team Collaboration: Engage collaboratively with other members of the legal team on special initiatives, projects, and corporate transactions.
- Confidentiality Oversight: Maintain discretion and uphold a high level of confidentiality while managing sensitive information and legal issues.
- Administrative Duties: Conduct administrative responsibilities such as maintaining legal databases, coordinating meetings, preparing expense reports, and aiding in compliance activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related discipline; paralegal certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a corporate paralegal or in a comparable position, ideally within a corporate legal department or law firm.
- Strong understanding of legal principles, practices, and procedures related to corporate law, litigation, and contract management.
- Proficient in legal research methodologies and databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis, etc.).
- Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with attorneys, clients, and colleagues.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines efficiently.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and legal software applications.
