Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Accounts Specialist to join our team at Universal Health Services, Inc. As a key member of our Business Office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and accurate submission of claims and minimizing denials.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct utilization and quality assurance activities in accordance with Utilization Review, Business Office, Billing, and Coding policies and procedures.
  • Provide ongoing administrative support to multiple departments, including the distribution of information to ancillary departments.
  • Collect and analyze data to prepare various administrative tasks, including gathering information, keying data into systems, and assisting UR Coordinators and Billing Specialists as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff to ensure timely and accurate compliance with requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of patient funding sources, discharge planning needs, and available resources to facilitate timely and accurate claims and payments.
  • Assist in the planning and organizational functions of the facilities Case Management System to minimize denials of payments.
  • Stay up-to-date on hospital policies and services to provide accurate information to patients and staff.
  • Support hospital mission, philosophy, and goals by maintaining a courteous and professional attitude when working with all staff members, management team, and outside visitors.
Requirements
  • Relieve departmental staff of routine matters within the scope of authority and guidelines established by the Business Office Director.
  • Maintain administrative tasks to ensure the Business Office runs smoothly, including but not limited to maintaining files, correspondence, typing, document preparation, and packet preparation.
  • Comply with all Administrative, Clerical, and HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist in data review and data entry as needed within the Business Office, Utilization Review Office, Medical Records Office, etc.
  • Report progress to department Supervisor as needed.
