Job Summary:

The Pharmaceutical Care Specialist will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care services to patients at Conway Medical Center. This includes oversight, monitoring, preparation, and dispensing of patient medication therapy, as well as providing drug information and education to caregivers, patients, and students. The specialist will maintain accurate records of dispensing and oversee the systems that charge or credit for medications and medication treatments. Additionally, they will ensure that appropriate medications are available for patients and properly procured, prepared, stored, and maintained. The Pharmaceutical Care Specialist will also supervise technical personnel who assist in preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of drugs and supplies, provide support and education for investigational medications, and maintain required records and documentation.

Requirements:

Experience:
  • Previous experience in hospital pharmacy is preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
  • Current licensure by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy in good standing is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within six months of employment.
Special Skills:
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with nursing colleagues, physicians, and department heads is required.
  • Exemplary core customer service skills are strongly required.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
  • Strong PC skills are required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to consistently exercise independent judgment is required.
