Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Engineer to join our team at the United States Fleet Forces Command. As a Senior Nuclear Engineer, you will play a critical role in resolving radiological control problems, making technical decisions, and ensuring plant safety, personnel safety, and cost effectiveness.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical instruction in Nuclear Engineer work involved in construction, overhaul, modifications, repair, refueling, and deconning of nuclear reactor plants, components, reactor plant material, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and approve Technical Work Documents (TWD) and administrative documents in support of reactor plan procedures.
  • Mentor and teach others in nuclear engineering cradle-to-grave processes of naval vessel propulsion plant systems.
  • Direct nuclear engineering processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience providing technical instruction in Nuclear Engineer work involved in construction, overhaul, modifications, repair, refueling, and deconning of nuclear reactor plants, components, reactor plant material, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving Technical Work Documents (TWD) and administrative documents in support of reactor plan procedures.
  • Experience mentoring and teaching others in nuclear engineering cradle-to-grave processes of naval vessel propulsion plant systems.

Applicants must meet the basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management, which include successful completion of a professional engineering degree or current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
