Job Summary

We are seeking 40 on-call Field Archaeologists to join our team in Fayetteville, Arkansas. As a Field Archaeologist, you will assist with Phase III data recovery projects, including archaeological test unit and shovel test excavation, excavation of cultural features, recovery and identification of archaeological artifacts, and use of archaeological field forms to record data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with multiple Phase III data recovery projects, including archaeological test unit and shovel test excavation, excavation of cultural features, recovery and identification of archaeological artifacts, and use of archaeological field forms to record data.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to achieve project goals.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Strictly abide by WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in anthropology/ archaeology or a closely related field.
  • Archaeological field school or similar archaeological field experience.
  • Self-motivated, physically able to conduct all aspects of fieldwork in all weather conditions, and able to follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with Pre-Contact archaeological sites in Arkansas, eastern Oklahoma, and the surrounding region.
  • Pre-Contact lithic artifact identification and analysis.
What We Offer
  • Single occupancy hotel rooms during fieldwork sessions, paid directly by WSP.
  • Fieldwork sessions will be 10 days on/4 days off, with the first and last day of each 10-day as a paid travel day.
  • Flat-rate per diem/meal reimbursement at $59/day for regular work days, with 75% ($44.25) for travel days.
  • Transportation on workdays from hotel to work site provided by WSP.
  • Opportunities for full-time employment and advancement.
  • WSP benefits package includes modified holiday pay, paid time off accrual, and 401(k) plan.
