Role Summary:
The Extended Care Teacher plays a vital role in supporting the holistic development of elementary students. This position involves creating and executing engaging programs that promote intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth. The educator will ensure a secure and stimulating atmosphere while implementing the K8 curriculum and daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the design and execution of enriching programs that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Maintain a safe and educational environment, implementing the Extended Care curriculum effectively.
  • Foster teamwork and communication among staff, embodying the values of the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile.
  • Engage students in various activities, including table games, outdoor play, and group projects.
  • Supervise snack times and assist children with their daily needs.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the learning space.

Essential Duties:

  • Implement the curriculum as directed by the Director of Auxiliary Programs, ensuring a high-quality experience for all participants.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and deliver developmentally appropriate educational activities.
  • Maintain professional relationships through effective communication with staff and parents.
  • Monitor children's play and provide guidance to promote positive behavior.
  • Document attendance and maintain accurate records as required.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and staff meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Italian is preferred.
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting is essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
