Position Overview
The After School Program Coordinator plays a vital role under the guidance of the Director of ELL & Student Support Services. This position involves assisting the Site Supervisor with administrative responsibilities while also serving as an instructor during program hours.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Site Supervisor to coordinate all after-school activities effectively.
• Support the implementation of a high-quality After School Program that meets all grant requirements.
• Provide engaging academic and enrichment instruction during program hours.
• Create a structured and safe environment for students participating in the After School Program.
• Facilitate "Parent Leadership Committees" to encourage parental involvement in after-school events and activities.
• Work alongside the Site Supervisor to gather necessary academic and attendance data for evaluation purposes.
• Execute assigned activities and program components as directed.
• Maintain open communication with the Site Supervisor regarding facility usage, scheduling, student discipline, and any incidents involving students, staff, or parents.
• Attend all required staff training sessions and meetings.
• Adhere to various grant stipulations and requirements.
• Foster collaborative relationships with site administrators in partnership with the ASP Site Supervisor.
• Assess situations to determine appropriate actions or referrals to the relevant personnel.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; one year of paid experience working with youth is preferred.
- Completion of two years of college coursework (48 units) or an A.A. degree (or higher) is desirable.
- Must meet NCLB compliance standards.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities are required.
- Flexibility and responsiveness to job demands are crucial; willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification is expected.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to perform multiple non-technical tasks with a need for skill enhancement due to changing job conditions.
• Proficient in communicating with individuals from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
• Capable of operating standard office equipment and maintaining accurate records.
• Basic math skills, including fractions, percentages, and ratios, are necessary.
• Ability to follow complex instructions and manage a variety of tasks efficiently.
Working Environment:
The role is primarily conducted in an indoor setting, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
Physical Requirements:
Employees must be able to stand, walk, sit, and communicate effectively. Some lifting of up to 10 pounds may be required. Vision abilities must include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
