Position Overview
As a vital member of the Corporate Banking Division, the Corporate Banking Specialist (CBS) is responsible for identifying and cultivating new banking partnerships (both credit and deposit based) with enterprises generating up to $10 million in annual revenue within the designated geographic area. Collaborates closely with Community Bank Managers in the region, receiving new business leads and referrals from branch teams. Additionally, works alongside the Bank's Commercial Banking Executives to evaluate and meet the credit requirements of prospective and existing business clients. Annual objectives for loan, deposit, and treasury sales will be established based on market potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Meet annual sales goals (credit, deposit & treasury) for establishing new partnerships with businesses in the assigned region and expanding existing relationships.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy for the territory to achieve targeted outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Community Bank Managers to follow up on business banking leads and introduce them to new business clients for daily account management. Conduct joint sales initiatives and ongoing training to enhance the small business capabilities of the assigned team.
  • Promote teamwork and small business expertise across all branches to ensure a superior customer experience.
  • Engage in cross-selling and refer clients to other banking divisions as necessary:
    1. Direct business owners and employees to the bank manager for new personal banking relationships.
    2. Highlight the advantages of the Bank's Wealth Advisory services and refer business owners to Wealth Management for new wealth management relationships.
    3. Discuss consumer mortgage product features and refer business owners and employees to Mortgage Loan Officers for new mortgage loans.
  • Collaborate with Credit Officers to manage credit requests from new and prospective business clients.
  • Employ strategies to enhance business banking customer relationships by identifying their needs and maximizing opportunities.
  • Participate in local business organizations, such as chambers of commerce, to represent the Bank and fulfill its community responsibilities.
  • Support various community and promotional initiatives of the Bank aimed at enhancing its reputation and visibility in the business sector.
  • Spend the majority of time in the field, attending sales meetings, generating leads, and closing business deals.
  • Refer leads from Commercial Banking Executives for businesses exceeding $10 million in size for specialized credit requests and support such requests as needed to ensure a high-quality experience for prospective clients.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures related to the Bank's BSA/AML compliance.
  • Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional communication skills: Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for success in this role.
  • Passion for sales: A genuine enthusiasm for outside sales and a commitment to prospecting are vital.
  • Presentation skills: Ability to confidently deliver client presentations, including detailed credit analyses to recommend suitable credit strategies for small business clients.
  • Consultative sales approach: Proficient in probing, listening, clarifying, and presenting information to facilitate sales transactions. Knowledge of financial services, business-to-business sales, and Business Banking is important.
  • Analytical skills: Capable of assimilating complex financial data, analyzing client financial conditions and industry trends to make informed decisions. Proficiency in interpreting financial statements and cash flow analysis is essential.
  • Team collaboration: Enjoy working with a team of Bank employees to resolve client issues through negotiation and partnership.
  • Knowledge of financial products: Experience managing a diverse client portfolio with significant funds may be required. A comprehensive understanding of business financial products and services is preferred.
  • Results-driven: A proven track record of achieving sales targets in the business banking sector is highly desirable.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This role operates in a standard office setting. Duties are performed using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. The work involves telephone communication, face-to-face meetings, and computer-based tasks.

Physical Requirements
This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files, and the capability to open cabinets. It may involve bending, stooping, or standing as necessary.

Travel Requirements
Travel is a necessary component of this position.

Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (or equivalent additional professional experience) is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a business development/sales officer in the financial services sector is required, with five years of overall experience in the financial services industry preferred; familiarity with the assigned geographic area is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
