Job Overview

The Betsy Hospitality Management, LLC, a distinguished independent boutique hotel, is seeking a talented Lead Pastry Artisan to oversee the pastry division of our kitchen. This role involves close collaboration with the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef to ensure the creation of exquisite pastry offerings that align with our high standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct daily operations of the pastry and bakery section, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality output.
  • Craft a diverse array of baked goods, including cakes, cookies, pies, and artisan breads, utilizing both traditional and innovative recipes.
  • Design and develop new recipes and visually appealing presentations for our pastry menu.
  • Ensure the highest quality in all dessert offerings, maintaining consistency and excellence.
  • Oversee the decoration of pastries and desserts, employing various icings and toppings to enhance visual appeal.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of pastry cooks and kitchen staff engaged in food preparation.
  • Conduct quality checks on raw and finished products to meet established standards.
  • Manage inventory of baking ingredients, ensuring timely orders while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas, complying with food hygiene and health standards.
  • Exhibit leadership qualities, fostering a positive work environment and encouraging teamwork among staff.
Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma is required; a culinary degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory culinary role, ideally within a luxury hotel or fine dining establishment.
  • Strong team management and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across various levels.
  • Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Familiarity with kitchen management software and technology.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and move heavy items as needed.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
