Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Program Assistant. This part-time position is responsible for coordinating quality recreational and leisure programs and activities, as well as special events, to serve the community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan, implement, and evaluate overall parks and recreation programs, including practice and concessions, camps, sports leagues, enrichment field trips, and special events.
  2. Address public questions and concerns regarding recreation program offerings and related issues.
  3. Promote collaborative efforts with community organizations.
  4. Instruct and lead recreation programs and activities as required.
  5. Maintain a safe recreational environment for participants.
  6. Coordinate use of program area facilities in accordance with facility use agreements and/or regulations.
  7. Assist in taking calls and answering requests, and provide general information.
  8. Attend City and industry-related meetings, as required.
  9. Function as a contributing member of the department's team and other teams, as assigned.
Requirements
  1. Excellent organizational skills.
  2. Ability to professionally and efficiently correspond with external and internal clients and vendors via phone, email, and written correspondence.
  3. Excellent attention to detail in an environment with rapidly changing data.
  4. Interpersonal relationships which encourage openness, candor, and trust, both internally and outside of the Company.
  5. Accurate and timely completion of projects and/or reports.
  6. Maintenance of City information in a confidential manner.
  7. Considerable knowledge of the principles, theories, and techniques of recreation programs in assigned program area.
  8. Ability to use independent judgment and take initiative.
Working Conditions
  1. This position involves working within an indoor office environment around general office equipment, including computers and work stations, as well as outdoor venues such as ballparks.
  2. This position may require working non-traditional hours, including predominantly evenings and weekends, and doing so in inclement weather.
Education and Experience
  1. High school graduation or equivalency, 2-year college degree preferred and/or 2 years of recreation experience.
  2. Skilled in the use of computers, including word processing and social media marketing.
  3. Must have a valid Indiana Driver's License.
  4. Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid, preferred.
