About the Opportunity

The Engagement and Partnerships Manager at the Annenberg Institute plays a pivotal role in advancing high-impact, research-based practice in education. This position is responsible for managing Brown University's partnerships with Providence Public Schools, other Rhode Island K12 schools, and adjacent education-related youth-serving organizations.

The incumbent cultivates deep relationships with community members in local K12 schools to understand community needs and aspirations, serving as an effective connector to Brown University resources, including students and research faculty seeking to learn with community partners.

A key facet of this role is managing the Brown Tutoring Corps (BTC), which deploys well-prepared Brown University students to provide high-impact tutoring and academic mentoring in RI K12 schools. The Manager will continue to align the BTC with current research on high-impact tutoring in collaboration with the Annenberg Institute team, drive local impact through continuous program improvement, and develop systems for monitoring success and reporting insights applicable throughout RI and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and support impactful, reciprocal, and sustainable partnerships at the school- and classroom levels as a member of the Annenberg Institute's local impact team.
  • Align with Brown University's Community Engagement Agenda: A Call to Partnership and Action and the strategic aims of the Annenberg Institute at Brown University.
  • Develop and implement strategies to deepen relationships across the educational system and transform policy and practice through ongoing collaboration, including with local K12 schools.
  • Collaborate with the Annenberg Institute team to advance high-impact, research-based practice in education.
  • Manage the Brown Tutoring Corps (BTC) and align it with current research on high-impact tutoring.
  • Develop systems for monitoring success and reporting insights applicable throughout RI and beyond.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education, Public Health, Social Work, Public Administration, or related field, and at least 3-5 years of experience in education-related project management or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with K12 settings and deep experience in Providence K12 schools preferred.
  • Experience with constituent relationship management software (such as Salesforce) is preferred.
Competencies
  • Sustain a project from inception to completion, with the ability to manage details and input from multiple stakeholders.
  • Effectively plans and prioritizes when faced with competing deadlines: remains flexible, takes the initiative, and follows through on strategies and tactics.
  • Demonstrated experience with community engagement and working knowledge of guiding principles for ethical and effective campus-community engagement.
  • Strong sense of ownership and attention to detail: notices and fixes errors that others might overlook. Acknowledges mistakes and turns them into learning opportunities. Shows initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Manages a high volume of work with efficiency: Has, or can create, a system for keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks. Able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing quality. Plans ahead to make deadlines.
  • Understands the impact of a project directly to and across various functions, as well as to the overall institute and field. Integrates organizational and team goals into the project scope and deliverables; develops metrics to track progress towards goals, and solves for project and organizational dependencies.
