Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with fellow Commercial Underwriting (CUW) leaders to guide the Commercial Underwriters. Foster a culture of satisfaction and contribution among team members through effective leadership and coaching. Act as a technical authority, monitoring performance and advocating for enhancements.
- Partner with CUW Management to propose and execute strategies that align with our organizational goals. Strive for continuous improvement in processes to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction. Cultivate collaborative relationships across the organization to promote shared accountability.
- Act as the CUW Lead or Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Commercial Lines or departmental initiatives. Responsibilities include drafting requests, outlining business requirements, conducting research and analysis, reviewing quality assurance outcomes, developing workflows, and making informed recommendations.
- Ensure adherence to Commercial Underwriting guidelines, standard operating procedures, service level agreements (SLAs), and authority limits. Identify opportunities for improvement that align with best practices in underwriting. Oversee the audit process, ensuring timely completion and resolution of any identified issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Oversee additional assigned functional units. Directly manage the unit's Supervisor, providing guidance and establishing clear objectives that align with the Division and Company's strategic direction.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Commercial Underwriting (4 years).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including strong written, verbal, listening, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical thinking abilities.
Supervisor Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in multi commercial lines, ISO, and NCCI.
- 1+ years in a formal supervisory role with involvement in hiring, compensation decisions, workflow management, and performance evaluations.
Manager Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in multi commercial lines, ISO, and NCCI.
- 4+ years in a managerial role with direct oversight of a work unit or department's performance.
