Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Director, Patient Care to lead our Patient Care Services team. As a key member of our executive leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to drive departmental goals and objectives, improve departmental performance, and hire, educate, evaluate, manage and develop staff.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement strategic plans to drive departmental goals and objectives, improve departmental performance, and hire, educate, evaluate, manage and develop staff.
  2. Develop, articulate and execute a short-term (6 months - 1 year) strategic vision for areas of responsibility, including growth and business development, clinical management, patient care, budgeting, financial management, and quality management of responsible departments.
  3. Promote System service standards and create a patient-focused caring environment while ensuring that the individual needs of the patient are met.
  4. Lead a functional unit in multiple sites with larger portfolios by developing, communicating, and building consensus for goals/programs that support the business or region.
  5. Responsible for the overall coordination of assessment, planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the operations of multiple departments and functions within Patient Care Services.
  6. Drive the System, Hospital and Patient Care Services' mission, vision, values and overall strategy.
  7. Function as a key clinical and administrative leader and communicate regularly with physician leadership, senior administration and departmental directors.
  8. Foster an environment of collaboration and respect with physician, allied health, nursing colleagues and other healthcare team members.
  9. Oversee the execution of all departmental operational performance metrics.
  10. Examine budgetary variances and progress in budget management for multiple departments and communicate to executive administration.
  11. Oversee development and execution of the vision for nursing practice, care delivery systems, and processes across the organization.
  12. Create a dynamic professional environment predicated on integrity, respect, shared decision-making and lifelong learning.
  13. Engage and impact nursing practice on a local regional and national level.
  14. Promote a milieu that blends inquiry, evidence-based practice, caring, compassion and ethical practice.
  15. Join CNO in producing a shared vision for building relationships centered on trust and respect while embracing diversity and inspiring innovation.
  16. Connect the shared vision for internal and external customers to effectuate the organizational goals and the enterprise-wide strategic plan.
  17. Inspire a leadership culture that upholds a healthy work environment.
  18. Advance effective plans for the delivery of nursing and allied health care to provide the safest and highest quality of patient and customer-centric care.
  19. Promote and advance a 'just culture' approach to accountability where leaders assure staff feel safe to admit mistakes, report problems, and take ownership of their actions.
  20. Create a structure to facilitate leadership development and succession planning.
  21. Assure the development and execution of quality/performance improvement programs using evidence-based strategies and solutions.
  22. Develop, review and revise policy in accordance with regulatory and professional standards of care.
  23. Foster a culture of collaboration across units, departments, & service lines to promote constructive dialogue and alignment of organizational goals.
  24. Perform related duties as required.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field, required.
  • Bachelors or Masters must be in Nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications, as needed.
  • 8-12 years of technical experience, required.
  • 7+ years of leadership/management experience, required.
  • 8 years of technical experience in Perioperative Services highly preferred.
  • 7 years of leadership/management in Perioperative Services highly preferred.
