Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Director, Patient Care to lead our Patient Care Services team. As a key member of our executive leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to drive departmental goals and objectives, improve performance, and hire, educate, evaluate, manage, and develop staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a short-term strategic vision for Patient Care Services, including growth and business development, clinical management, patient care, budgeting, financial management, and quality management.
  • Promote System service standards and create a patient-focused caring environment while ensuring individual patient needs are met.
  • Lead a functional unit in multiple sites with larger portfolios by developing, communicating, and building consensus for goals/programs that support the business or region.
  • Coordinate assessment, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of operations for multiple departments and functions within Patient Care Services.
  • Drive the System, Hospital, and Patient Care Services' mission, vision, values, and overall strategy.
  • Function as a key clinical and administrative leader, communicating regularly with physician leadership, senior administration, and departmental directors.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration and respect with physician, allied health, nursing colleagues, and other healthcare team members.
  • Oversee the execution of all departmental operational performance metrics.
  • Examine budgetary variances and progress in budget management for multiple departments and communicate to executive administration.
  • Develop and execute the vision for nursing practice, care delivery systems, and processes across the organization.
  • Create a dynamic professional environment predicated on integrity, respect, shared decision-making, and lifelong learning.
  • Engage and impact nursing practice on a local, regional, and national level.
  • Promote a milieu that blends inquiry, evidence-based practice, caring, compassion, and ethical practice.
  • Join the Chief Nursing Officer in producing a shared vision for building relationships centered on trust and respect while embracing diversity and inspiring innovation.
  • Connect the shared vision for internal and external customers to effectuate the organizational goals and the enterprise-wide strategic plan.
  • Inspire a leadership culture that upholds a healthy work environment.
  • Advance effective plans for the delivery of nursing and allied health care to provide the safest and highest quality of patient and customer-centric care.
  • Promote and advance a 'just culture' approach to accountability where leaders assure staff feel safe to admit mistakes, report problems, and take ownership of their actions.
  • Create a structure to facilitate leadership development and succession planning.
  • Assure the development and execution of quality/performance improvement programs using evidence-based strategies and solutions.
  • Develop, review, and revise policy in accordance with regulatory and professional standards of care.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration across units, departments, and service lines to promote constructive dialogue and alignment of organizational goals.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field, required.
  • Bachelor's or Master's must be in Nursing.
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 8-12 years of technical experience, required.
  • 7+ years of leadership/management experience, required.
  • 8 years of technical experience in Perioperative Services highly preferred.
  • 7 years of leadership/management in Perioperative Services highly preferred.
