Audio Visual Technician

Waterside District is seeking a skilled Audio Visual Technician to join our team. As a key member of our events team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating audio visual equipment for concerts, meetings, and presentations.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and install equipment such as microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors, recording equipment, connecting wires and cables, sound and mixing boards.
  • Set up and operate sound equipment, including microphones and speakers.
  • Set up and operate spotlights to enhance the visual experience.
  • Confer with meeting or concert directors to establish cues and directions.
  • Create and install custom lighting systems to create a unique atmosphere.
  • Monitor sound feeds to ensure high-quality audio.
  • Ensure equipment is installed according to designated layout.
  • Test and resolve equipment issues promptly.
  • Diagnose and correct media system problems.
  • Coordinate audio feeds with television images.
  • Mix sound inputs and feeds to create a seamless experience.
  • Fix or send in equipment for repairs as needed.
  • Clean and store audio and video equipment properly.
  • Ensure the safe transfer and shipment of equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment.
  • Report all unsafe conditions or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
  • Educate and train venue staff in the safe and proper use of equipment.
  • Respond to guest questions, complaints, and requests in a courteous and prompt manner.
  • Perform other minor maintenance and repairs as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus advanced vocational training and two years of experience in audio visual and general building maintenance or construction.
  • Professional certification and license may be required by State and/or municipality regulations.
  • Must speak fluent English.
  • Specialized knowledge and skills or certification within a field or discipline such as sound, televising, and lighting equipment mechanics, and general maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and reading skills.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, percentages, quantities, and variances.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Physical Demands:
  • Carrying, lifting, pushing, and/or pulling items weighing up to 100-200 pounds.
  • Frequently standing up and moving about the facility.
  • Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility.
  • Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and crawling.
