About the Role:
As a Senior Principal Network Engineer, you will be responsible for providing advanced knowledge in support of LAN/WAN components, monitoring and analyzing network system performance, and identifying and resolving service impacting issues. You will also review system vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices. Additionally, you will drive and participate in projects to improve voice, video, and network infrastructure, and produce and update technical documentation to support security requirements and operational support of systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced knowledge in support of LAN/WAN components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and authentication servers.
- Monitor and analyze network system performance, proactively identifying and resolving service impacting issues.
- Review system vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Drive and participate in projects to improve voice, video, and network infrastructure.
- Produce and update technical documentation to support security requirements and operational support of systems.
- Propose and configure network solutions, meeting all communications requirements based on future needs, current usage, cost savings, and availability.
- Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for network infrastructure.
- Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance and procurement for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support.
- Assist in the overall performance and capability of technical teams through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 8 years of experience in Network Engineering or Information Technology roles, or equivalent experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret DOD security clearance is required prior to start date.
- Experience with Cisco Networking Products, and other industry leading network products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, and authentication servers.
- Experience with platforms such as Cisco ISE, Cisco Call Manager, NTP servers, General Dynamics GemOne, and SolarWinds.
- Experience configuring, updating, and troubleshooting encryption devices and intrusion detection systems.
- Experience with classified computing, NIST and other Security doctrine, STIG compliance, and network refreshes.
- Experience with project management, team leadership, and personnel development.
