Job Summary

This position is responsible for the advanced installation, maintenance, and repair of computer and computer networking equipment. The incumbent will assist lower-level positions with problem resolutions and upgrades, and collaborate with the systems group on server-related duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair file servers, personal computers, printers, and peripheral equipment at an advanced level.
  • Perform the help desk function and provide instruction to faculty and staff on computer and telecommunications resources.
  • Perform technology and system analysis, determine system requirements, and design, install, and maintain server systems and associated peripherals and storage systems.
  • Recommend campus purchases of computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
  • Remain current concerning state-of-the-art trends in the field.
  • Write bid specifications, ensure bids meet specifications, and recommend the successful bidder.
  • Maintain inventory and repair records, and provide clearance for invoice payments.
  • Serve as the departmental representative on campus committees to provide input on computer hardware and software.
  • Serve as a liaison between the College and other State agencies as assigned.
Requirements

An associate degree in a computer-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience supporting PC hardware, software, and operating systems within a networked environment is also required.

MCP, A+, or Net+ certification is preferred but not required.
