Construction Estimator Position

The Old Dominion Group is seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to play a key role in our team in Leesburg, VA. This position involves estimating all costs associated with construction projects to ensure timely completion and budget adherence.
Key Responsibilities:- Bid Pricing Management: Manage bid pricing from all vendors to ensure accurate estimates.
- Project Documentation: Review documentation, communicate with vendors and contractors, and visit job sites as needed to understand project requirements.
- Cost Research: Research the cost of materials, equipment, and labor on an ongoing basis to ensure accurate estimates.
- Estimate Generation: Generate accurate, detailed, and timely estimates and purchase orders for all products.
- Bid Package Preparation: Prepare and submit bid packages within the specified timeframe.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct ongoing cost analysis to verify profitability and adjust estimating procedures when necessary.
- Vendor Relationships: Build and maintain effective working relationships with vendors and trade partners.
- Change Order Management: Manage all potential change orders.
- Project Communication: Communicate with trade partners and team members throughout all stages of the project to ensure budget adherence.
- Site Visits: Attend site visits, pre-bid walkthroughs, and other pre-project meetings.
- Document Compilation: Compile all documents needed to generate a bid.
- Information Collection: Help collect additional information from customers and vendors as needed to assist estimators with identifying factors affecting costs.
- Job File Organization: Organize, review, and prepare job files, identifying clear scopes of work and potential risk factors.
- Estimate Review: Double-check estimates.
- Project Budget Presentation: Assist with presenting and explaining project budgets to customers, operations team, and others.
- Customer Communication: Monitor customer and project deadlines and communicate any changes or issues to the team.
- Lead Tracking: Assist with identifying and tracking leads, proposals, and bids.
- Project Progress Oversight: Oversee work progress, review and update logs, and communicate potential issues and challenges to the estimator and other team members.
- Estimator: At least one year of experience in construction estimating, Bachelor's degree in Applied Science, Engineering, or related field, and ability to read, understand, and navigate architectural plans and specifications.
- Assistant Estimator: Bachelor's degree in Applied Science, Engineering, or related field, or some college (2+ years) and 4+ years' experience in the construction industry, working knowledge of commercial construction processes and costs, and ability to read, understand, and navigate construction blueprints, plans, and project specifications.
