Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Planner to join our team in Southern California. As a key member of our environmental sciences and planning group, you will be responsible for leading the preparation of large-scale environmental technical documents for transportation, water, and resources projects. Your expertise in CEQA and NEPA will be essential in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and delivering high-quality results to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the preparation of large-scale CEQA and NEPA documents for a wide range of project types and sectors.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned staff, recommending measures to improve performance and increase efficiency.
- Track personnel actions and staff development, including support for recruiting and hiring, and training measures for assigned staff.
- Lead sector quality control, ensuring that quality work is planned and organized through a proactive project management system, and implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Provide hands-on mentoring and team participation to create a bridge between technical resources and client requirements, ensuring appropriate leadership and supervision engaged on technical assignments.
- Work with client development leadership to prioritize marketing and business development efforts, focusing on maximum return on investment.
- Champion a quality culture within the sector organization and production teams, serving the sector's clients.
- Direct technical messaging and professional attendance at industry events.
- Promote the Drive to Zero culture, prioritizing safety for staff and clients.
- Interpret, implement, and enforce company policies.
- BS or BA degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience in CEQA and NEPA environmental documentation, regulatory compliance, and permitting.
- Substantial CEQA and NEPA experience with Southern California clients, including city and county governments, ports, transportation agencies, and other public entities.
- Experience writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for complex environmental projects with multidisciplinary teams and multi-agency efforts.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite, strong people skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to productively interact with various teams and possess excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Master's degree in environmental science or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in environmental technical writing, CEQA and NEPA document preparation, and substantial knowledge of endangered species act and regulatory permitting requirements.
- Experience with Microsoft Project and Teams.
- Previous consulting industry experience.
- Experience with California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and/or New Mexico markets.
