About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Specialist to collaborate with our administrative and production teams to sustain and enhance our environmental programs. As a key member of our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Department, you will oversee compliance programs, engage with regulatory agencies, and ensure that our facility's operations comply with all environmental laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including air emissions, water quality, hazardous waste, and chemical safety.
  • Oversee the acquisition, maintenance, and compliance of all necessary environmental permits.
  • Prepare for and coordinate inspections by regulatory agencies, ensuring all documentation and facility conditions meet regulatory standards.
  • Compile and submit all required environmental reports to regulatory bodies accurately and on time.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees on environmental regulations, compliance procedures, and best practices.
  • Implement and enforce company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections to identify compliance gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain detailed records of compliance activities, including permits, reports, inspections, and training records.
  • Support and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of our facility's operations.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for environmental incidents and provide training to staff.
Requirements
  • College degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. Experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the environmental field, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory information to non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Instant Messaging).
  • Relevant certifications such as CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), CPEA (Certified Professional Environmental Auditor), or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor are desirable.

Work Environment

The Senior Environmental Specialist will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels. The role requires occasional travel to regulatory agency meetings and inspections.
