Senior Aircraft Fabrication Specialist at Gulfstream Aerospace

Essential Skills:

Extensive experience in heavy aircraft structural sheet metal work is required. Candidates should possess the ability to interpret and work with engineering drawings and schematics effectively.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. An FAA A&P license or the capability to secure a repairman certificate within 30 days of employment is necessary. A minimum of 10 years of substantial experience in production, manufacturing, or service center operations is expected. Role Objective: Serve as a technical authority on in-service aircraft, executing repairs on installations that demand precision and promptness. Operate independently within a collaborative work environment and assume a leadership role when necessary.

Job Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Execute technical tasks such as the correct methodologies for in-service installations, repairs, modifications, and refurbishments. Diagnose issues on in-service aircraft to identify root causes and implement preventative measures in collaboration with relevant parties to enhance efficiency and product quality. Support problem-solving initiatives to refine planning methods for in-service aircraft refurbishments and installations by employing established techniques, procedures, and criteria. Collaborate with Engineering, Product Support Engineering, and Quality Control to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions. Organize, develop (with the Training Department's assistance), and manage the Employee Skills Development Program. Identify and establish training needs for tooling, testing equipment, and other relevant areas. Plan, schedule, and execute tasks to align with service and delivery timelines. Assist management with the supervision and training of technicians in the proper procedures and techniques for troubleshooting airframe issues, routine inspections, and preventive maintenance. Participate in the performance evaluation of subordinates. Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of team members. Leverage strengths for optimal job performance and provide guidance and development opportunities to address improvement areas. Offer diverse learning experiences. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, vendor information, and all relevant procedures, publications, and general knowledge related to product support installations, repairs, and refurbishments. Aid in the maintenance of work schedules and the updating of CMP cards. Review work, including forms and records, to ensure adherence to Gulfstream Repair Station procedures and FAA Airworthiness Standards. Verify daily job charging for accuracy in aircraft billing. Support Lean initiatives. Additional Responsibilities: Undertake tasks assigned to department technicians or leads during their absence, as needed. Adhere to standard operating procedures. Complete all necessary documentation, including CMP cards, Travelers, and R&I logs. Follow all safety, 6S, and housekeeping protocols and utilize personal protective equipment. Ensure the protection of aircraft interiors (PTP). Assist in the development and execution of related initiatives. Conduct repairs on installations that necessitate a high level of accuracy and promptness. Aid in training subordinates in appropriate techniques, processes, and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned.
