Senior Aircraft Painter at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation

Educational Background and Experience Requirements

A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. A minimum of 4 years of relevant painting experience is required, with a preference for candidates with a background in the aviation sector. A valid driver's license is essential. Comprehensive knowledge of various paint types and processes (including lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics) is crucial. Position Objective: The Senior Aircraft Painter is responsible for independently executing the preparation, painting, and detailing of aircraft in accordance with the established schedule, adhering to company quality standards and operational protocols. This role also involves acting in place of the Lead Painter when necessary and providing guidance and direction to fellow painters.

Job Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct aircraft preparation, painting, and detailing tasks safely with minimal oversight. Collaborate with supervisory staff and inspection teams to ensure adherence to internal and FAA documentation, approvals, and quality standards.
  2. Support supervisory personnel in delegating and completing tasks for team members. Uphold high-quality standards through mentorship and by exemplifying best practices for fellow painters.
  3. Adhere to standard operating procedures while utilizing tools and equipment such as dual-action sanders, hydraulic lifts, and paint sprayers. Ensure proper maintenance and care of shop tools and equipment.
  4. Follow established protocols when handling sealants, paint removers, and corrosion-preventive agents, using protective gear as necessary.
  5. Comply with safety regulations and remain vigilant for hazardous conditions, addressing any risks proactively.
  6. Utilize the material tracking system to generate parts requests, monitor issues, and confirm task completion.
  7. Assist in the movement of aircraft within hangar facilities.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Adhere to Paint Shop standard practices (SPT) and WFR processes.
  2. Provide mentorship to other members of the painting team as needed.
  3. Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and engage in related activities.
Perform additional duties as assigned.Other Requirements:
  1. Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language.
  2. Able to interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
  3. Must pass a Pulmonary Function Test to qualify for respirator certification.
  4. Capable of climbing ladders and stairs, working in confined spaces, lifting up to 40 pounds, and working any shift.
  5. Computer literacy is required.
  6. Thorough understanding of GAMPS, paint operations SPT manual, and paint WFR is essential.
  7. Must possess the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
