Position Overview:
The Senior Aircraft Coating Specialist at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation is responsible for independently executing the preparation, application, and finishing of aircraft surfaces in accordance with established quality standards and operational procedures.
Key Skills:
- Proficiency in utilizing fall restraint systems and operating from elevated platforms.
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in paint processes, preferably within the aircraft sector.
- A valid driver's license is essential.
- Extensive knowledge of various paint materials including lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Execute aircraft preparation, painting, and detailing tasks with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with supervisory staff and inspection teams to ensure adherence to internal and FAA compliance standards.
- Assist in delegating tasks and ensuring team members meet their work objectives.
- Foster a culture of quality by mentoring peers and exemplifying best practices in painting.
- Act in a supervisory capacity as needed.
- Utilize tools and equipment such as dual-action sanders, hydraulic lifts, and paint sprayers following standard operating procedures.
- Maintain and care for shop tools and equipment properly.
- Adhere to safety protocols when handling sealants, paint strippers, and corrosion-preventive agents, utilizing protective gear as necessary.
- Identify and rectify unsafe conditions proactively.
- Employ the material tracking system for managing parts demand and tracking work progress.
- Assist with the movement of aircraft within hangar facilities.
Additional Duties:
- Comply with Paint Shop Standard Practices (SPT) and Work Flow Review (WFR) processes.
- Mentor junior paint operation staff as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Other Qualifications:
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
- Must pass a Pulmonary Function Test for respirator certification.
- Capable of climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, lifting up to 40 pounds, and adaptable to various shifts.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Comprehensive understanding of GAMPS, paint operations SPT manual, and paint WFR is essential.
