Patient Access Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Representative to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a key member of our Revenue Cycle team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of patients through our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and support activities to ensure excellence in throughput for inpatient and observation patients.
- Review and ensure correct coding of patient types, medical services to support billing and revenue cycle goals.
- Follow appropriate patient placement utilizing the facilities bed allocation.
- Complete and file death certificates with Brookhaven Town and Department of Health.
- Determine eligibility and patient cost share (co-pay / deposit etc.) using electronic systems and other means.
- Communicate with patients and their representatives to confirm how the encounter will be paid.
- Ensure compliance regulations are met, including securing consents and regulatory signatures from patients or designee.
- Maintain and require appropriate documents as necessary.
- Provide financial guidance and excellence in Financial Care to patients and their representatives.
- Assist and instruct staff as well as clients on issues related to insurance verification of authorizations and referrals.
- Associate's Degree with one year working experience in a financial services, public health, health, or related industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, computing and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work well with persons who are under stress.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
