THE ROLE

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist reports to the Chief Operating Engineer and, like all qualified specialists, possesses a broad knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, steam, gas, fire safety, and HVAC refrigeration.

This role requires hands-on involvement in the daily operations, servicing, and repairs of hotel equipment. If you prefer to focus on the bigger picture without engaging in the details, this position may not be suitable for you.

The role will also foster trusting and transparent relationships with fellow hotel associates.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Responsibilities include overseeing all equipment, systems, and building components, including but not limited to mechanical and electrical systems, pumps, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, locks, furniture, paint, wall coverings, tile, and other equipment.

Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and cleanliness in guest rooms, public areas, event spaces, outlets, back-of-house areas, and grounds.

Demonstrate knowledge of the hotel's safety systems and take corrective actions on any maintenance or operational issues affecting the security or functionality of the hotel.

Participate in the room preventive maintenance program.

Utilize your skills and intuition to identify equipment malfunctions and discuss operational variations with supervisors or other maintenance personnel to diagnose issues or perform repairs.

Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment and furnishings as necessary.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of and adhere to all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards; participate in all scheduled training sessions and meetings.
Transport heavy items within the hotel for maintenance and repairs.
Assist in the delivery and setup of new equipment such as televisions, mattresses, tables, chairs, etc.
Communicate with the Chief Operating Engineer regarding assigned projects.
Respond to all guest requests promptly and courteously.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance; prior experience as a hotel engineer is preferred or comparable experience in settings such as apartment complexes or office buildings.

Basic knowledge of refrigeration systems, electricity, HVAC, and plumbing; certifications are advantageous.
Maintain a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
Proficiency in the English language in reading, writing, and verbal communication.
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, bend, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work independently, self-manage, and make a meaningful impact.
Ability to work varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
