Plumbing Cost Estimator - Job Summary:
The Plumbing Cost Estimator is responsible for generating cost estimates for projects of varying sizes based on client specifications.
Key responsibilities include:Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and verify estimates and revisions for accuracy and completeness.
Analyze construction documents to understand the scope of work for bidding.
Source pricing for materials and equipment.
Notify the supervisor of any discrepancies or omissions in estimates or databases.
Prepare detailed estimates and proposals for both plan/spec and design/build projects.
This includes plumbing and medical gas take-offs, soliciting subcontractor prices, and drafting comprehensive proposals outlining the project scope, clarifications, and exclusions.
Utilize and maintain the company’s computerized estimating system.Participate in pre-bid meetings and conduct site inspections to assess conditions affecting project pricing and installation.
Attend turnover meetings to relay project specifics to the installation team.
Prepare estimates for change orders on ongoing projects as needed.
Employ Quick-pen, TSI & Revit software for take-offs on plumbing and medical gas system drawings.
Manage project setup and maintenance for BIM/design/estimating.
Download necessary files from FTP sites for estimating and project management.
Keep abreast of all updates and improvements to estimating software and hardware.
Field evaluations may be conducted as required.Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical specifications, construction plans, and contract documents. A broad understanding of plumbing and medical gas construction systems is essential.
Familiarity with MS Office, Quick-pen, AutoCAD, REVIT, and FTP Sites, or a willingness to learn.Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Willingness to travel to local job sites as necessary.
