Mechanical Engineering Project Leader

Project Estimation

  • Assessing project costs across all three disciplines: Plumbing, Pipefitting, and Sheetmetal.
  • Providing guidance and training to Assistant Project Managers on change order cost assessments.
  • Proactively supporting the team in finalizing project estimates.

Labor Management

  • Projecting labor requirements.
  • Coordinating labor schedules.
  • Building and maintaining positive rapport with Foremen and Crew members.

Safety Oversight

  • Conducting safety evaluations to ensure a secure work environment.
  • Addressing safety issues with Foremen and Crew.
  • Strategically planning for a safe job site throughout the project lifecycle.

Client Relations

  • Managing relationships with clients, owners, and general contractors.
  • Actively pursuing and nurturing new business connections.
  • Leading efforts in proposal development and presentations.

Technical Expertise

  • Utilizing comprehensive mechanical system knowledge across diverse projects.
  • Applying understanding of building regulations and standards to enhance customer value.

Operational Excellence

  • Exhibiting leadership through ongoing self-improvement and process enhancement.
  • Adhering to the Project Management Process Map.
  • Delivering projects that achieve or surpass the planned gross margin.
  • Mentoring emerging Assistant Project Managers.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in project management within mechanical contracting, focusing on plumbing, piping, and sheet metal.
  • Proven success in establishing and maintaining client relationships.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction and mechanical contracting industry practices and their implications on project execution.
  • Experience in leading and guiding teams using innovative management techniques to optimize performance.
  • Proficiency in preparing estimates for plumbing, piping, and sheet metal projects.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and sustaining customer relationships.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn new software systems.
  • LEED accreditation is advantageous.

COMPENSATION: Salary is commensurate with experience and education, including a base salary plus performance-based incentives.
