Job Title: Lead Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

Turner & Townsend is seeking a skilled Lead Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor to oversee cost management and estimation services for a prominent technology client's extensive data center construction initiative. This position entails working on-site at the data center campus for a portion of the week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction process.
  • Deliver comprehensive estimates and cost planning, culminating in the final cost plan.
  • Collaborate with the design services team and general contractor to refine cost estimates.
  • Engage with contractors and project managers to provide updates on cost estimates.
  • Coordinate cost information sources and suppliers to prioritize engineering tasks.
  • Oversee cost checks, valuations, and manage post-contract cost discrepancies.
  • Prepare funding data presentations and facilitate value engineering discussions.

Pre-Contract Responsibilities

  • Develop cost plans and estimates during the design phase.
  • Provide commercial insights and lead negotiations to secure equitable contract pricing.

Post-Contract Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantity surveying, cost control, and change management tasks.
  • Effectively manage post-contract cost discrepancies and auditing processes.
  • Generate monthly cost reports and negotiate final accounts.
  • Document as-built cost estimates for future benchmarking.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in construction cost management.
  • Degree in construction management, cost management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading cost management on medium to large-scale construction projects.
  • Understanding of technical aspects of the construction industry and value engineering principles.
