Deputy Chief Financial Officer

Job Summary:
The Shelby County Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Chief Financial Officer to join our team. As a key member of the finance department, you will be responsible for providing financial leadership and guidance to the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide financial analysis and guidance to the Chief Financial Officer and other stakeholders
• Supervise and evaluate the finance staff
• Assist with the preparation of reports to the Board Members
• Review and approve purchase requisitions and ensure compliance with procurement code
• Assist with grant applications and monitoring of grants for budgetary compliance
• Review and approve travel reimbursement requests and ensure compliance with board policies and procedures and Internal Revenue regulations related to travel
• Be responsible for quarterly and annual Medicaid reporting as it relates to financial data
• Coordinate audit fieldwork
• Maintain records of fidelity bonds and insurance, including unemployment, workers' compensation, and liability insurance products as needed
• Oversee fixed assets of the district and ensure proper recording in MUNIS
• Update district personnel, as needed, regarding finance and purchasing issues
• Assist with MUNIS system administration role, including installing program updates and releases
• Complete the bank reconciliation of cash monthly for review and approval by the CFO
• Assist with continuous improvement of finance department processes
• Perform duties as needed to develop and maintain proper segregation of duties in the finance department
• Be responsible for review and approval of payroll and accounts payable standard invoices
• Respond to questions from district staff, vendors, and others
Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree Required. Preferred Degrees are Accounting or Business Administration. Certified Public Accountant preferred
• Knowledge of accounting, financial analysis, purchasing, and project management
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
