Computer Science Faculty Position

About the Position:
The Department of Computer Science at George Mason University invites applications for multiple term faculty positions in computer science. As a faculty member, you will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses, participate in university, college, and departmental governance, and engage in professional and public service.
Responsibilities:
- Teaching: teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Service: advise students, participate in all aspects of the department's mission, and serve the profession
Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have received a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field. Candidates with a Ph.D. in other fields should have a strong publication record in computer science. Applicants who have received an MS in computer science or a related field by the start date of the position will be considered for instructor positions. Demonstrated potential for excellence and a commitment to high-quality teaching are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants at all ranks and in all areas of computer science, broadly defined, will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D., teaching experience, and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Administrative and/or managerial experience is a plus. Applicants who can build collaborations with other departments within the College and across the University will benefit from the strong support and encouragement for interdisciplinary collaboration.
About the Department:
The Department of Computer Science has 25 teaching-track faculty and 56 tenured and tenure-track faculty with wide-ranging research interests. The department has seen a substantial increase in computer science majors, with enrollment growing from 550 undergraduates in 2012 to over 2,400 today. The department has over 200 PhD students and over 1,150 Masters students enrolled in four MS programs.
