Position Summary and Requirements

The Respiratory Care Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care in alignment with departmental needs and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As an integral member of the patient care team, the specialist conducts various diagnostic assessments and therapeutic interventions while monitoring patients on both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document comprehensive patient assessments, including evaluation of breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Perform diagnostic tests to determine the necessity and effectiveness of respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory therapies, such as oxygen delivery, aerosol medication administration, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation protocols.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapy and communicate with providers regarding any unexpected reactions.
  • Support the transport of patients requiring ventilatory assistance.
  • Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation efforts as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) certification.
  • State licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Associate Degree, Certificate, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, or completion of a Vocational School program.

No travel is required for this position.

No prior experience is necessary.
